Insurance and remediation work

Water ingress, smoke damage and mould, scoped against a claim and itemised by stage. We work with repairers, assessors and fleet risk managers rather than with the driver.

What we take on

  • Water ingress

Flood water, failed seals, blocked sunroof and air conditioning drains. Carpet and underlay come out, the floor pan is dried and treated, and the moisture source is identified so the vehicle does not come back.

  • Smoke damage

Tar and smoke residue through the interior and the air path, including the evaporator and ducting, where the smell keeps returning through the vents until it is dealt with.

  • Mould

Removed and treated, with the damp source found. Mould in a vehicle is a symptom; treating it without fixing what is wetting the car is money wasted.

  • Spoiled loads and contamination

Milk, food and cargo spills in vans and commercial vehicles, where the contamination has usually reached the underlay.

The method

Stages this work reaches

Remediation regularly goes the full distance, including carpet out. The scope of works says which stages a vehicle needs and each is itemised separately.

  1. 1

    Find and remove the source

Under seats and seat rails, under carpet, the boot well, the cabin filter, the HVAC evaporator.

  2. 2

    Carpet shampoo

Shampoo worked through the carpet, the mats and the fabric seats, so what is bound into the pile lets go before it is pulled back out.

  3. 3

    Hot-water extraction

Hot water driven through the pile and vacuumed straight back out, so the dirt leaves the vehicle in the water rather than drying back into it.

  4. 4

    Air-path treatment

Ozone or hydroxyl, run in our workshop under controlled conditions, then fully ventilated before the vehicle goes back to you.

  5. 5

    Carpet out

Worst cases only — carpet lifted, underlay treated or replaced, then sealed.

Quoting

Quoted against the scope of works rather than from a rate card, itemised by stage so an assessor can see what is being charged for and why.

Where a vehicle is beyond economic remediation, we will say so in the quote. That is more useful to a claim than an optimistic number.

Trade enquiry

TODO: scope question for the owner

Confirm whether written condition reports with before and after photographs are part of this service — the page currently does not claim them.

TODO: scope question for the owner

Confirm whether trauma and biohazard remediation is in scope or explicitly out. It is left unstated for now rather than guessed at.

Questions we get asked

Who do you invoice?

The repairer or the insurer, whoever holds the job. Monthly, on 14-day terms.

Can you attend at a smash repairer or a holding yard?

Yes, for assessment and for work that does not need controlled conditions. Drying, ozone and carpet-out work happens at our workshop.

How long does a remediation job take?

Longer than a clean. Water ingress in particular is governed by drying time, not by labour hours, and rushing it is how a vehicle comes back mouldy.
